The Task:

An Post, Ireland’s postal system, entrusted Cronin Group with the delicate task of relocating twelve historic Irish post boxes to a storage facility. These cast iron post boxes, some predating the foundation of the Irish State, hold immense historical value and cannot be replaced if damaged.

The Process:

Efficient Planning and Execution

  • Pre-Planning and Survey: Our team leader conducted a detailed survey and collaborated closely with the custodians of the post boxes to understand their unique requirements.
  • Risk Assessment and Method Statement: We prepared a comprehensive risk assessment and method statement, addressing potential challenges and ensuring the safety and efficiency of the operation. The RAMS were approved by the customer.
  • Team Allocation: Utilising our crane truck and a team of experienced riggers, we efficiently planned the move of the post boxes.
  • Protective Measures: All Cronin lifting and moving equipment is certified according to safety regulations, ensuring maximum protection for the post boxes.
  • Loading Procedure: Each post box, varying in size and weight, was individually assessed prior to removal.
  • Securing the Load: We secured and protected all post boxes during loading to ensure safe transport.
  • Delivery: At the destination, post boxes were carefully maneuvered through a smaller entrance using scoots and delivered safely to their final positions as indicated by our client.

The Outcome:

The successful relocation of the post boxes ensured their preservation for future generations.
The custodian expressed their gratitude for the professional and efficient job done by our experienced team.
