All businesses need to organise their workplaces to ensure that they can facilitate a safe and compliant return to work for employees. At Cronin Movers, our Workplace Relocations team have been operating throughout the pandemic supporting businesses, so we had to make our own workspace safe, train staff on COVID-19 safety measures and supply suitable PPE and sanitising equipment in the workplace and in our vehicles. So we thought it might be helpful to provide some guidance to businesses on preparing your workplace by providing links to some really useful resources.

Having worked with many businesses that have gone through scaling up or down their workplaces, we’ve pulled together our 5 step guide to office rightsizing:

1. Government Guidance:
The starting point for guidance is to keep up to date with public health announcements and updates via the government website Public Health Updates. This includes accessing grants to support businesses impacted by COVID-19. There is also the Work Safety Protocol with guidance for Employers and Workers on how to reduce risk in the workplace.

2. Enterprise Ireland – The Future of Work:
This is a fantastic resource created by Enterprise Ireland on the Future of Work with a suite of really useful guides for employers, including a Guide on Remote and Blended Working from Enterprise Ireland and Voltedge Management. The guide provides insights on how companies can manage these new ways of working to suit their business needs. Our Workplace Relocations team are currently supporting large employers as they make changes to their workspace as a result of changing working practices.
There is also a really valuable COVID-19 Employers Guide which provides best practice guidelines for employers on changing policies and practices with useful templates provided.

3. Health & Safety Authority:
As you might expect the HSA have produced some excellent guidance and really helpful templates for employers to minimise risks to workers. The COVID-19 Response Plan details the policies and practices necessary for the employer to meet the Government’s ‘Return to Work Safely Protocol’ and to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace. The plan provides an overview of key areas that employers must assess to ensure compliance with the protocol and to minimise the risk to workers and others.

We hope you find these resources useful to keep your businesses running and keep your workforce safe.
